Ascension Providence Welcomes New Board Members

Suzanne Hack is an Estate Planning and Probate Attorney at Sheehy, Lovelace, & Mayfield, P.C.
She attended school in Waco and graduated from Reicher Catholic High School. She went on to attend Baylor University and Baylor Law School. She began her legal career in Waco, where she has had the opportunity to focus on Estate Planning, Probate, and Corporate Law. She has gained extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, which has included the planning and formation of nonprofit organizations; serving as executive director of multiple nonprofits; and serving as a nonprofit consultant for fundraising, governance, planned giving, and strategic planning.
She is passionate about volunteering and is actively involved in the greater Waco community where she currently serves as a GED teacher for Christian Women’s Job Corps, a Director of The West, Texas Foundation, past President of the West Economic Development Committee, and Director of the Waco Downtown Farmers’ Market. She is married to Christian Hack, and they have five children. She attends church at St. Mary’s in West, where she is actively involved in the ACTS Ministry and the Women’s Bible Study Program.
Rusty Haferkamp is the Chief Information Security Officer and Executive Vice President at Central National Bank.
Rusty oversees the technology operations of the 1.3 billion dollar Texas bank with locations in Waco, Temple, and Austin. Before taking his current role at CNB, he supported top secret projects for defense contractors in the United States Army, Navy, and Air Force. He also managed his own business for eight years employing several technicians and engineers as a small business technology consultant in the Waco, Austin, and Dallas areas. His specialties are information security controls, policy development, and breach remediation.
Rusty has also been involved in the Waco community as a volunteer for decades. Rusty has served in executive, director, and committee fundraiser capacities on boards including the Northwest Optimist Club of Waco, TSTC Advisory Committees, Ridgewood Country Club, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Waco Jaycees, Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, and Hedonia Club of Waco. Rusty currently serves on the Board of Directors of Fuzzy Friends Rescue. He graduated from University High School, obtained an Associate’s in Computer Maintenance Technology from TSTC, and Bachelor’s in Business Management from Northwood University. Rusty has been married to his wife, Carolyn, for 25 years and has two daughters, Kate and Emma, who attend schools at Midway ISD.
Kelly Meier, a lifelong Catholic, is thrilled to be part of the Ascension Providence Foundation Board.
Kelly has had the privilege of serving on numerous boards during her time in Waco such as the Bishop Reicher board and Inspiracion. She has also served in leadership roles in several organizations, such as the Junior League of Waco. She is honored to support the facets of Catholic healthcare. Kelly‘s husband, Luke is a professor at Baylor Law and they have three children.
Shawn J. Skeen, M.D is a cardiologist at Waco Cardiology Associates.
Dr. Skeen is a graduate of Texas A&M University Health Science Center College of Medicine. He completed his Internship, Internal Medicine Residency, and Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX. Dr. Skeen is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He began his Invasive Cardiology practice with Waco Cardiology Associates in 2014 and serves patients in eight Central Texas counties.
Dr. Skeen serves as the Internal Medicine Chair for the Department of Medicine at Ascension Providence Health Center. Dr. Skeen also serves as the Congestive Heart Failure and Echocardiography Lab Director for Baylor Scott & White – Hillcrest. He has been commended for his service on several committees at Baylor Scott & White/Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital Department of Internal Medicine. In addition to Cardiovascular Disease and interventional procedures, Dr. Skeen has a keen interest in the remedy of vascular insufficiencies. He was the first cardiologist in Waco to perform Leafless Pacemaker implants, Cardiomems, and PE Thrombectomies.
