Over the past 20 years, the Ascension Texas Nurse Scholarship Program has helped Ascension associates achieve their dreams while building an educated nursing force that is vital for quality and compassionate patient care in our community.
We’re thrilled to share that this past spring, scholarship applications opened for all Ascension Texas associates pursuing a nursing degree, and Ascension Providence had three nurses selected to receive $5,000 scholarships.
For many recipients, further education would not be possible without these scholarships. Thank you for generosity and help in making this a reality for these outstanding nurses.
Below are the Ascension Providence associates that received the scholarships this year. Thank you for your support in making this possible!
Amy Johnson is a registered nurse at Ascension Providence. She is currently pursuing a MSN in administration from the University of Phoenix.
“I am writing to extend my deepest gratitude for selecting me as a recipient of the Nurse Scholarship Award. It is truly an honor to be recognized by such a compassionate and generous group of individuals who are committed to supporting the advancement of Nursing.
This scholarship means more to me than words can fully express. As a Master’s student, I have dedicated myself to learning, growing, and preparing to serve associates, patients and families with the highest level of care and compassion. Your support not only eases the financial burden of my education, but also affirms the value of the work we do as nurses. It is incredibly motivating to know that there are people like you who believe in and invest in our potential.
The values of Ascension Providence—service, reverence, integrity, wisdom, creativity, and dedication—deeply resonate with my own reasons for furthering my career in Nursing
Administration. I am inspired by your commitment to advancing healthcare and supporting
those who are called to serve others through it.
Thank you again for your generosity and for making a meaningful difference in my academic journey and career development. I am proud to be associated with such a respected and caring organization.”

Working as an ICU nurse with Ascension has been both meaningful and inspiring, and this generous scholarship not only eases the financial burden of graduate education but also strengthens my motivation to grow as a compassionate and skilled provider. I am deeply committed to advancing my nursing career and making a positive impact in the lives of the
patients and families I serve.
Thank you again for your support and encouragement. I am proud to be part of the Ascension mission and truly appreciate the investment you are making in my future.”
Jeffrey Rother is a surgical technologist at Ascension Providence. He is currently pursuing a BSN from The University of Texas at Arlington.
“I am truly honored and deeply grateful to be selected as a recipient of the Ascension Texas Nurse Scholarship. Receiving this award was a wonderful surprise, and it means more to me than I can fully express.
Pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing over the past year has been both incredibly rewarding and personally challenging. Balancing academic responsibilities with family life and part-time work has tested my limits, but it has also reinforced my commitment to becoming a compassionate and skilled nurse. This scholarship will ease a significant financial burden, allowing me to focus fully on my final semester and complete my degree this December.
Your generous support not only brings me one step closer to graduation, but also serves as a reminder that my goals are seen and supported. I am inspired by your investment in the next generation of nurses, and I am committed to honoring this opportunity by making a positive impact in the lives of my future patients and community.
Thank you once again for your generosity and belief in my potential.”
