Thanks to your incredible generosity, during our 2026 grant cycle, we were able to award more than $355,000 in grant funding to enhance patient care at Ascension Providence! Learn more about the incredible new technology and equipment awarded that will touch many lives.
Acute Rehabilitation Services Awarded 2 RoWalker 400s ($11,916)
The RoWalker 400 directly addresses critical needs by offering a comprehensive solution for safe and independent patient ambulation. The innovative device provides upper extremity support for the patient, facilitating their active participation in ambulation. It is equipped with integrated seat flaps, allowing a patient to sit immediately if needed, thereby eliminating the requirement for a trailing wheelchair. Its design incorporates attachment options for carrying medically necessary items, freeing the therapist’s hands to directly assist the patient.
Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit Awarded Glidescope ($15,499)
The Glidescope is a device that provides video assistance while placing a breathing tube into the windpipe of infants to assist with breathing. With critical care, time is of the essence so having access to this equipment provides safer and faster placement of breathing tubes in newborn babies.
Cardiovascular/Stepdown Unit Awarded BladderScan i10TM System ($10,145)
This ultrasound device delivers fast, accurate bladder volume measurements, significantly improving patient care and nursing efficiency. By reducing unnecessary catheterizations, this helps lower the risk of catheter-associated urinary tract infections, known as CAUTIs. It enhances patient safety and comfort, especially in vulnerable populations, including the elderly and post operative patients.
Surgical Services Receives 2 Zimmer Biomet Hammr Impaction Systems ($59,748)
Traditionally, hip surgery involves high physical effort with manual mallet swings which can cause significant surgeon fatigue. The Hammr is designed to significantly reduce this strain and improve component placement consistency, and is better for both the patient as well as the surgeon.
Cardiac Rehabilitation Awarded the ScottCare VersaCare Telemetry Monitoring System with 7 monitors ($31,347)
As patients recover from heart surgery, part of their recovery is going through cardiac rehabilitation in our cardiac rehab program. The Versacare Telemetry system enables staff to monitor patients’ ECG waveforms and heart rate during exercise sessions, which is vital for Phase II cardiac patients. Cardiac rehab offers profound, scientifically-backed benefits for patients recovering from myocardial infarction or open heart surgery. Patients have reduced risk of mortality and recurrence, improved functional capacity, and improved overall risk factor modification. By adding seven additional telemetry monitors to our cardiac rehab department, we will increase the number of patients we are able to care for at any given time.
Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation Awarded the Vyntus Body PC Diffusion System ($56,015)
The Vyntus Body Diagnostic System is a state-of-the-art, whole-body diagnostic system used to perform Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs). These tests measure lung volumes and airflow mechanics, which are essential for accurately diagnosing and managing a wide range of respiratory conditions. Each test is performed by our highly trained respiratory therapists and interpreted by our pulmonology physicians and helps guide personalized rehabilitation programs, ultimately improving patient outcomes and overall lung health.
Inpatient Pharmacy for Acute Care Departments Awarded 20 Adult Crash Carts ($57,317)
In the case of a Code Blue, the crash cart is the silent hero that can stand between life and loss. These new state-of-the-art carts will be strategically placed throughout the hospital for optimal use in emergency situations. The new design of these carts support faster response times and improved coordination during high stress, life-threatening events. The versatile design supports consistent quality of care both now and for years to come.
Education/Pediatrics Awarded the Gaumard Pediatric HAL S3005 Simulator ($36,456)
The Pediatric HAL S3005 Five-Year-Old Patient Simulator allows nurses to train through hands-on-exercises. It is wireless and tetherless, which means it can be moved from place to place for multiple department training. This enables our staff to hone skills in pediatric patient care so that more pediatric patients can be cared for at Providence.
Cardiac Cath Lab Awarded the Stryker S Series Equipment Management System ($76,664)
The first priority for patients is the care they get. That’s why when a patient is in the Electrophysiology lab, the last thing anyone needs to worry about is clutter or constant repositioning of heavy equipment during procedures by staff. The Stryker System provides protection of equipment, reduces clutter, and minimizes the need for staff to lift or reposition equipment, which helps prevent fatigue and musculoskeletal strain. By creating a more accessible and orderly workplace, the system allows clinical teams to maintain focus on patient care while supporting long-term staff health and performance. The system demonstrates our commitment to our team and patients, providing a safe and well-organized work environment.
