2024 Ascension Providence Nurse Scholarship Recipients

An educated workforce is critical for providing quality care, and we are committed to helping our associates reach their career goals. This is why the John F. Sheehy, Jr. Education Fund was created – to support Ascension Providence’s education plan of a multidisciplinary workforce to have access to both on-site and other educational methods to further the excellence in patient care for our community.

We’re thrilled to share that this past spring, scholarship applications opened for all Ascension Texas associates pursuing a nursing degree, and Ascension Providence had three nurses selected to receive $5,000 scholarships.

It’s because of donors like you that opportunities like these nurse scholarships are a reality. Thanks to your generosity, Ascension Providence associates can pursue their dreams.

Below are the Ascension Providence associates that received the scholarships this year. Thank you for your support in making this possible!

Stephanie Land is a registered nurse at Ascension Providence. She is currently pursuing a BSN at Texas Tech University Health Science Center.

“I would like to personally thank each of you for helping to ease the financial burden of pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. I am a single mother of two, working full time at Ascension Providence in Waco, Texas, so this award will go a long way in helping with tuition, books, and overall expenses.

I am privileged to have been chosen for this award and I would like to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your generosity. I will be attending Texas Tech University Health Science Center in the fall. Obtaining my BSN will help me to further my career at Ascension Providence and I could not be more excited for this next phase of my life!”

Bradley Plaat is a registered nurse at Ascension Providence. He is currently pursuing an MSN at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Georgia Vasiu is a registered nurse at Ascension Providence. She is currently pursuing an MSN at the University of Texas at Arlington.

“I feel so blessed and honored to have been awarded the Ascension Texas Nurse Scholarship. I am blessed to be able to live in America and pursue the American dream of becoming anything you want to be. My parents sacrificed and left the country of Romania to come to America to give me the chance to be anything I wanted to be. They wanted me to have the opportunities that I could not have had otherwise. Thank you for helping make that possible for me.

I am in the beginning journey of my nurse practitioner and have been studying consistently to master the information in my classes. It means the world knowing that Ascension has my back and wants to support me in these growing steps toward advancing my career and pursuing my dreams.
