Thanks to your incredible generosity, during our Fall 2024 grant cycle, we were able to award over $236,000 in grant funding to enhance patient care at Ascension Providence! Learn more about the incredible new technology and equipment awarded that will touch many lives.
NICU Awarded AngelEye Camera Systems ($20,595)
No matter where parents are or what device they are using, this live-streaming video gives parents access to their NICU babies. There are many times where newborns may have to stay in the NICU for days or weeks after their mother is discharged. This live-stream system allows for parents to see their newborn even when they are away and also enables care teams to share important updates and heartwarming moments through real-time texts, photos, and videos of their child. This can help ease the stress and anxiety parents experience when their newborn(s) is in the NICU. It also fosters stronger connections when they can’t be at the hospital with their child, and also enhances the efficiency of the nursing staff.
Labor & Delivery Awarded 2 PACU Monitors ($33,686)
These monitors integrate patient vital signs directly into our patient software system during the post-operative recovery phase. When a patient is recovering from surgery, nurses are required to take their vital signs every 15 minutes for the duration of the recovery phase. This can be very time consuming for the nurse that is also responsible for assessment of bleeding, incision integrity, level of consciousness, pain, skin to skin contact between mom and baby, breastfeeding, mother/baby bonding, and more. This new technology and integration system will allow nurses more time to focus on patient needs while still gathering important patient information.
Surgery Awarded 3 Verathon Glidescopes ($40,434)
Verathon Glidescopes are an integral piece of equipment used by anesthesiologists when intubating patients. This new system has a 15-inch screen that allows anesthesiologists to directly view and secure the airway for rapid intubation in the safest manner possible. This technology is especially useful in patients with difficult airways. Also, the parts to this technology come in a variety of shapes and lengths to accommodate the varying anatomy of patients. These devices are used by Anesthesia in support of GI, Cath Lab, Radiology, Labor & Delivery, and Surgery procedures, touching many areas of the hospital and patients.
ICU Awarded CORTRAK Technology ($17,500)
This device assists trained clinicians on safely placing a small bore feeding tube by utilizing a screen that gives the clinician a visual aid during placement. This helps clinicians see that the tube is properly positioned and helps to avoid misplacement or lung injury. In addition to this, the smaller bore of the feeding tubes are less likely to contribute to ulcerations to the esophagus that can lead to pain and difficulty swallowing.
Emergency Department Awarded 10 Mobile Workstations ($51,705)
Our Emergency Department treats about 55,000 community members each year. Often, this volume poses a challenge for our care space. With these mobile workstations, the care team will have the ability to provide care anywhere within the department and expedite patient care.
Labor & Delivery Awarded C-Section Hands-on-Learning Manikin ($12,548)
This manikin will be used to further enhance the skill and knowledge of our labor and delivery staff in emergent situations that occur during a cesarean birth (c-section). The manikin provides hands-on experience for staff to be able to practice maneuvers and skills in a controlled, simulated environment. This is the first simulator available at Providence that simulates a c-section delivery.
Mother & Baby Awarded 3 Halo Bassinets ($12,747)
These hospital-grade bassinets have improved designs and capabilities that mothers and nurses love. The bassinets can tilt, rotate, and easily slide close to mom as the design allows it to move over the bed. Since the device makes it easier to reach the baby, it makes infant care, breastfeeding, and soothing newborns to sleep easier and safer.
Cardiology Awarded 2 4D Ultrasound Probes ($47,000)
Imaging is the basis of diagnosing heart disease. These probes deliver superior image quality and offer 4D technology with better resolution, resulting in a more accurate diagnosis.
